Tall Ship to Open California Sailing Season at Jack London Square
Oakland – The topsail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain will open its 2010-2011 California sailing season with a visit to Jack London Square on Oakland’s historic waterfront Oct. 8-10. The tall ship is scheduled to arrive in Oakland during the evening of Friday, Oct. 8 after a six-day passage from its home port of Grays Harbor, Wash. The ship is chartered by a private party on Saturday, Oct. 9, and it will open for public tours on Sunday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The crew will be dressed in period costume. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.
